Festive Tables: Shreve, Crump & Low

This was waaaayyyy better than being a kid in a candy story.  I was a grown-up in one of the city’s finest jewelry and gift stores.  And while there wasn’t any edible candy at this story… the eye candy was to DIE for!!  Imagine walking into Shreve, Crump & Low and having your pick at ANY of the china, flatware, glassware, or accessories you’d like to dress up your dinner table?!  UM, yes please!!!

Last week, I had the honor of joining seven of Boston’s best interior designers for the Festive Tables event at Shreve, Crump & Low.  In celebration of the upcoming holiday season, the seven designers were chosen to create “festive” tablescapes using the AH-MAY-ZING selection of china and accessories available throughout the store.  The opening night of the Festive Tables event was dedicated to raise money for the MSPCC (Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).  The event was a huge success!

As you walk into Shreve’s, the very first table to greet you has been designed by Darlene Gentle of Turtle Bay Interiors.  Darlene used the Herend “Rothschild Bird Brown Border” to set the mood of her table, accenting the already fabulous china and stemware with custom linens, birdhouses and fitting antiques.

The Moser “Maharani” goblets and Bacarrat “Vega Topaz” champagne flutes.  Florals by New Leaf Flores in Jamaica Plain.

Antiques from The Barn at 17 in Somerville.  I’m not 100% sure, but I think that’s where these napkin rings came from.  So ornate!!

The next table was designed by Michael Ferzoco of Eleven Interiors.  I spent some time chatting with Michael, and let me tell you, he’s just as nice as he is creative!  This Ginori “Marquese” inspired table really made me feel like the holidays.  Perhaps it was the  hint of reds, curled ribbons and jingle bells sprinkled across the table!!

Are these Jean Louse Coquet “Hemisphere Platinum” salads to die for or what!!  And what a perfect view for this table.  I can’t wait until there’s just a slight dusting of snow on the ground.  This table will totally feel at home!

A signature Shreve touch with the Gurgling Cod vase ~ an iconic piece of Boston history!

This woman knows how to use some color and funk!!  Erin Gates of Element Interiors put together a tablescape inspired by the Royal Crown Derby collection.  Delicately blending together purples, burnt orange and red… this table really pops!!  Love the Premiere Prints zebra table linen, made by PMK Designs.

The ultra-chic chairs from PBD Events definitely bring a modern flare to this very classy table.  And you can never go wrong with hydrangeas, white cabbage, tulips and a HUGE white orchid from of Winston Flowers.

Just love Erin’s eye for details as she “whipped” together these super fun strands of faux pearls and vintage style sunburst brooches to create napkin rings!!  Definitely check out more about her ideas and inspiration behind this tablescape on her own blog: Elements of Style.

The Baccarat “Arcade” goblets and wine glasses definitely add a spice of color.  And I love to Erin also managed to “slip” in a little bit of the Greek key on the table gifties!

Again, a little bit of that traditional Shreve to tie the whole table together with the Gurgling Cod vases.  And don’t you just love how Erin used those faux pearls again to create a “bubbly” feeling on the table?!  Okay, I’m a bit obsessed!!

This next table is uber creative!  Eric Steven Jacobs of ESJ Designs (and Visual Director of Shreve, Crump & Low) created a traditional Asian tablescape and atmosphere using the Mottahedeh “Blue Canton” dinner set as his inspiration.  I particularly love the traditional cushions and drapery that ESJ has added to really create that “sit-down” feeling around the table.

Rustic furniture from Mohr & McPherson really makes for a cozy feeling around this table.

Contrasting he Mottahedeh “Blue Canton” dinner set against the red chargers really makes the whole setting pop!!

Had to slip in a little bit of that Gurgling Cod, used has holders for the Christofle chop sticks.

This next ultra clean and modern tablescape was design by Dennis Duffy of Duffy Design Group.  Dennis Duffy’s designs generally tend to favor the modern taste, and this tablescape is no exception.

I’m just loving the lotus-shaped tea light holders and the faux diamonds sprinkled across the centerpiece.

The blue Raynaud “Jardin Celeste” dinner and salad plates, juxtaposed to the orange William Yeoward Avington Chargers really create a bright and clean dynamic on the table.

And how fitting are these napkin rings, courtesy of Mika Nakafuji of Mohr & McPherson.

If you’re one of those people that loves the ocean breeze, you would totally love the tablescape designed by Kathleen Sullivan Elliott of Kathleen Sullivan Elliott Interior Design.  The Herend “Scallop Shell” salad plate really sets the tone for this super comfy table.

And I just love that this table is only set for 2.  How comfy and romantic!!  Just makes you want to start a fire, cozy up and sip some bubbly from the William Yeoward “Camilla” collection.

It really amazes me the attention and eye for details these designers have.  I mean look at the napkins too!!!

Not to mentioned the wonderful table linen with all of its tassels and textures!!  And loving the little bit of golden bling that’s sprinkled across the table too!!

Last, but not least… let us all please pause and drool over this rustic and romantic tablescape by Taniya Nayak of Taniya Nayak Design.  You may know or recognize Taniya’s style from her HGTV show, Designed to Sell.  And how proud am I to say that not only is she from Boston, but Indian too!!  Woot Woot!!

Taniya has created a really down-to-earth feeling here, using custom table linens by Pat Garmhausen and dried florals by New Leaf Flores.  The earthy color pallet really makes you feel like you’re outdoors.  Don’t you just love the haystack seating!!

Chargers, dinners, B&B’s and salads from the Match collection really bring together the look.  The Atticus Wood bowls are just so fitting for the plums!!

It seems like no detail was overlooked, from the chandelier down to the centerpiece by New Leaf Flores.  The stemware is a collection of the Baccart Vega Clear flutes, the William Yeoward small vases and Heritage Cricklewood wines.  How cool are the Heritage Cricklewood wine glasses with all that texture!!!

Loving all the little, personal touches!!

The event a ton of fun and a super success for the MSPCC.  If you missed the event, but are still interested in giving to the MSPCC, click here.  You can also check out these fabulous tablescapes for the whole rest of November at Shreve, Crump & Low.  Nothing like a little eye-candy to start off the holiday season!!!  Happy Tuesday.
